Wherefore art thou, high school hoops tix?

Call the schools, sports fan

The Indiana boy's high school hoops tourney is getting underway.

So how in the heck do you get tickets?

A look at the IHSAA site (and others, like Max Preps and John Harrell’s site) have scheduling info but no ticketing links.

That’s because, according to Coach Bob Lovell —heard statewide on his weekend radio show, Indiana Sports Talk — ticketing for the sectionals, regionals and so on are left to the individual schools.

“It’s a grassroots thing at this point,” says Lovell. “I’d contact the individual schools for info — the IHSAA doesn’t get involved with ticketing until the Finals.”

That can be a bit tricky, since overburdened educators don’t exactly have a lot of spare time on their hands to field ticket queries — a call to Arsenal Tech, for example, directed us to the voicemail for the “Financial Office,” where tickets can be picked up and paid for physically, not digitally. (At last check, just ONE three-pack was available for $10.) Tech plays Lawrence Central at 6 p.m. tonight. 693-5300 is the Tech number, by the way.

As NUVO mentions in our Spring City Guide (which drops tomorrow, thankyouverymuch), the Finals are slated for the end of the month:

Go watch Hoosiers. Then get back to us.

OK, now that you’ve done that: the official website is IHSAA.org, but John Harell’s websites for the teams and matchups seems quite a bit more intuitive: indianahsbasketball.homestead.com is the URL.

High-school hoops are now split into four classes (that’s way different from the movie, now, mind you).

IHSAA Boys’ Basketball Finals, March 26, 10:30 a.m. (Session One) and 6 p.m. (Session Two), Bankers Life Fieldhouse, One Bankers Life Ct., 125 S. Pennsylvania St., 917-2500, price TBD
