Web exclusive: Prophetic rock

“The Prophecy”
Thunderlip
Lucid Records
3.5 stars

On their 2005 album, Thunderlip’s pulsing drums and hard guitar riffs combine with fiery vocals to provide a true “sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll” mentality. The group’s second album, “The Prophecy,” shows much more maturity. In tracks like “Backseat Bedlam” and “The Prophecy,” the vocals and guitar riffs ring truer to the style the band seems to be gravitating towards: the earlier days of metal and Southern rock.

Sounds like: Mötley Crüe
