Jester Music Festival
Friday, Aug. 17-Saturday, Aug. 18
The Jester Music Festival, a two-day extravaganza held at the cozy German Park, proved to be a sensational weekend-long bash for all ages.
Walking into German Park, a quiet woodland nestled behind a row of welcoming trees, I took in the fresh scent of nature as I bumped into a few hula-hooping tailgaters who swayed with the distant beat of music and looked like one with Mother Earth. The laid-back, hippie feeling of it all unveiled itself as a recurring motif throughout the evening, much to my chagrin. It was a nice change of pace and an especially invigorating experience for people who get caught up in stuffy city life.
With booze, a bubble pit and entertainment from headlining bands including Here Come the Mummies and Ekoostic Hookah, there was a little something for everyone. I was pleased to find 85-year-olds dancing into the wee hours of the night and 8-year-olds partying on the playground, while their parents lay on blankets watching the bands with beer in hand. For those of you who missed the exhilarating soirée, I highly recommend marking your calendars for next year’s festival.
