'Violet' premieres

Theater

Buck Creek Players will present the Indianapolis premiere of the award-winning musical Violet. Developed from a short story by Doris Betts, the story is set in the South, 1964. Violet was accidentally scarred by her father when she was a child. Now, as an adult, she is convinced that a televangelist/healer can cure her. So, she heads to Tulsa, Okla. Along the way, she meets two soldiers, a serious and kindly black sergeant and his buddy, a womanizing white enlisted soldier.

Buck Creek is located at 11150 Southeastern Ave. Show dates are June 4-20, Fridays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12, $10 for students and seniors. For reservations, call 862-2270. For more info, see www.buckcreekplayers.com.
