Best Beer Bars Midwest.
Rita shed light on the amazing fact that Central State Brewing's taproom, The Koelschip received top billing.
The Koelschip has been open less than a year and is making a name for itself quickly, being the first bar in Indianapolis to be awarded this honor. They have done this through their out-of-the-box beer offerings and their communal spirit, bringing in beers from breweries that rarely make their way in to the Hoosier State.
Looking further into the list, I noticed another Indiana bar made the list and it's a bar that has stood the test of time. If you're ever going to Muncie, there is one place you don't want to miss out on and that is the Heorot (yes, like King Hrothgar's mead-hall, for you bibliophiles). While the dragon is worth stopping in to see, the main draw over the past 21 years has been the immense quantity and quality of beers. With 71 beers on draft, there is a brew for every palate.
The recognition of Indiana's beer scene is blowing up in a big way. In fact, while writing this piece, I just received an e-mail from Rita about another national publication, Paste Magazine, giving props to Broad Ripple Brewpub as one of the 20 Best Breweries More Than 25 Years Old.
Be on the lookout for Rita's article on this once she meets with the Brewpub's founder, John Hill.
It's an exciting time to be drinking beer in Indiana!
