Rare fairness. Conservative Indianapolis AM radio station WIBC deserves kudos for its non-partisan billboards urging people to vote. Bush and Kerry and Daniels and Kernan have equal space on different billboards around town.
Bowing to the gun lobby. Our Republican Congress allowed the 10-year-old ban on assault weapons to expire Sept. 13 — while the president sat passively by — despite a vast majority of Americans approving of the gun-control measures.
“Incompetence in the administration.” No, that wasn’t John Kerry, but Richard Lugar talking about Bush’s failure to reconstruct Iraq’s devastated infrastructure. Lugar is upset that of $18.4 billion appropriated a year ago for Iraq reconstruction, only $1 billion has been spent. Thanks, Sen. Lugar, for speaking up.
