Up in smoke. The war on pot in Indiana is a fund-raiser for the state police. Where, in 2000, assets seized (including the homes, bank accounts and vehicles) of people growing pot totaled $94,596, this total has risen steadily to $925,894 in 2003.
Oh, Canada. Joe Kernan says that if the feds don’t come up with a better drug plan by March, he’ll support the importation of prescription drugs from Canada. It’s a good idea and if Kernan’s smart he’ll stop floating trial balloons and make this part of his platform — now.
Sharing a bus stop. In a few different locations near downtown, parents are concerned with ex-convicts and former drug addicts from halfway houses sharing bus stops with IPS students. The city will need to address this situation as downtown becomes more of a residential choice for families.
