The quality of mercy … Gov. Joe Kernan went along with the unprecedented recommendation of the Parole Board last week and commuted Darnell Williams’ sentence from death to life imprisonment. It was the right thing to do — especially in an election year.
… is not strained. Mitch Daniels also did the right thing by not making the Williams case an issue. The consequence, though, is that this episode has taught us nothing about how Daniels might have handled a similar situation.
Freedom of speech. Management at the Kerasotes Theatre at Glendale Mall, a venue for Fahrenheit 9/11, permitted leafleting outside their theater.
