Thumbsup :: Thumbsdown

Peace now. Props to the city, Indy Parks and the Peace Learning Center for working out a deal enabling the PLC to stay in its current Eagle Creek Park location. Since 1997, 60,000 students have received peace training. The Peace Learning Center is a recipient of a NUVO Cultural Vision Award.
Indy gone. IndyGo’s new reduced bus schedule — 10 fewer routes and 20 fewer employees — goes into effect this week. The $2 million loan from the city apparently isn’t going very far. Meanwhile, the city is taking out a $20 million loan to help the poor Simons build their headquarters on free downtown property.
Thinking filmgoers. Michael Moore’s new movie is biased, but that’s not the point. The important thing is that people are buying tickets to a movie that pushes them to think about social and political issues instead of just watching Vin Diesel blow up another SUV. It’s fine if some moviegoers still disagree with Moore’s thesis. Any kind of thinking is a start.
