Bring on the chains. Folks living around the Kroger store at 524 E. 16th St. are staging a “reverse boycott” during the week of June 21-27 to encourage the supermarket chain to build a downtown signature store. This means shopping at that Kroger store on those days to show management the community will support a better store if it’s there.
Mission accomplished! What was worse? The big color picture The Star gave Mitch Daniels in its City-State section last week — or the picture itself: Daniels dressed in racing garb, striking a dashing pose as he stepped into the back seat of an Indy two-seater. Was this Daniels doing Dukakis in the tank — or his old boss on the aircraft carrier?
All people are created partisan. Fifty years ago, the Supreme Court, in its Brown v. Board of Education decision, unanimously upheld the principle that all people are created equal — even though popular opinion was divided on the issue. Can we imagine a unanimous Supreme Court decision in today’s divisive political climate?
