As if helping the U.S. women's basketball team win its fifth straight Olympic gold medal weren't enough, the Indiana Fever's Tamika Catchings arrived back in the states just in time to help lead her team to two victories in one week and earn her third WNBA player-of-week award this season. The award is the 17th she's earned in her career, the second most in league history. The Fever's next home game is Aug. 28 against the Washington Mystics, a team against which the Fever stands 1-1 this season. The Fever is 12-7 overall this season.
The Indiana Fever fell at home to the Minnesota Lynx 78-69 but the fans managed to set a Guinness World Record for most glow sticks lit. The old record of 836 was shattered by the crowd in Bankers Life Fieldhouse and is now officially 3712.
