In 1958 West Berlin, 15-year-old Michael Berg (David Kross) meets train toll-taker Hanna Schmitz (Kate Winslet) and has a brief, but life-changing, affair with her. Years later, the now-grown Michael (Ralph Fiennes) learns that Hanna is being tried for contributing to the murder of 300 Jews while she was an SS guard at Auschwitz. Michael has a piece of information that could help her case, but would force him to publicly reveal their relationship. Intriguing and strongly acted, with a surprising amount of nudity. Winslet won a Best Actress Oscar for her work here. 123 minutes. DVD INFO: Includes deleted scenes, a making-of documentary and featurettes.
