Circle City Aerodrome's Dark Victorian Romance, held Feb. 14-16 at the Columbia Club, drew as many of the curious as participants - some of whom struggled to define what the term "steampunk" actually means.

It's a culture constructed using elements of the past and future equally, creating a crossbreed that continues to define itself. Think Jules Verne in the Wild, Wild West. Sherlock Holmes cloned with the Terminator.

The symposium included a vendor arcade, art show, masquerade ball, demonstrations and workshops on topics ranging from absinthe tasting to dueling with pistols and swords.
