The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association celebrated their 30th Anniversary season with a stop at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, September 20-22, marking a celebratory year full of colorful festivals geared towards classic American automobiles. What started in March of 1983 as a one-day "Get-Together" for California hot rodders has blossomed into a worldwide association of car enthusiasts.
Fans got a close-up glimpse of the modern hot rodding scene and Goodguys' core message - having fun with cars. Over 2,500 hot rod, custom, and classic cars and trucks of 1972 and earlier vintage from across the country covered the Indianapolis Motor Speedway infield. Local enthusiasts entered their own rides to participate in this event.
Weekend events included the Goodguys autocross track, show-n-shine, swap meet, vendor and manufacture exhibits, and a Classic Car 4 Sale Corral. There was cruise around the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval and tour of the Hall of Fame Museum. A tribute replica of the 1952 land speed record setting "City of Burbank", built by Indy native Dave Thomas, was on display. With kids activities and live music entertainment, the entire weekend offered something for every car enthusiast.
