Gen Con 2015
A placard on the walk outside of the Capitol Grill read “Stay Calm and Gen Con”. Many other downtown restaurants posted similar signs in their windows welcoming conventioneers. If you had walked into any of the major hotels at any hour of the day, gamers lined the hallways - cards, figurines and instruction manuals spread out on the carpeting in front of them. Georgia Street was closed for four full days offering a rotating lineup of food trucks and entertainment. The city streets were a constant flow of people, some with painted faces, some dressed as comic book characters. The world’s best four days of gaming is now in the books for 2015, but the doors to Gen Con don’t begin and end at the convention center. It has become a celebration of the city itself.
