Scary Stories on the Canal: Disquieting, Disturbing & Dreadful Tales

Celestine Bloomfield, Cynthia Changaris, Lou Ann Homan, Bob Sander

Indiana History Center

Members of the Printing Partners Storytellers Theater assembled outdoors beside the downtown canal on Saturday to tell scary stories from across the country. It was a cool and cloudless October evening, which only heightened the suspense and sharpened the senses of audience members. One by one, the raconteurs shared frightening tales passed down to them through generations of family, friends and folklore. These stories ranged in subject matter from an account of a cursed rat given as a gift by the devil himself to a tale of a woman's truly undying love for her husband. No matter the story, however, none would have been as entertaining without the expert elaboration of the storytellers. Celestine Bloomfield, Cynthia Changaris, Lou Ann Homan and Bob Sander kept audience members, who were already closely huddled under blankets, on the edges of their seats for the entire evening. 317-255-7628.
