Indianapolis blues/rocker Joe Hamgeri, who won the Taylor University Battle of the Bands in 2007, has released his debut album, an EP called The Violet that was recorded over the past year in Chicago. Click on link to listen.

Described as Mayberry meets Woodstock, the Linton Music Festival has scheduled more than 30 artists on 3 stages over 3 days in the rural Indiana city of Linton (30 miles west of Bloomington). Genres range from garage rock to indie rock to bluegrass to jazz. Last year, over 10,000 people attended the free event, which takes place at Humphreys Park.

Schedule of bands to be announced, with the festival running three days:
Friday, September 2nd (5:30pm-10:00pm)
Saturday, September 3rd (Noon-10:00pm)
Sunday, September 4th (1:00pm-10:00pm)
