Rev Peyton's NYE show, Todd Snider's live album, R.E.M's Christmas song

Rev. Peyton and his Big Damn Band, who scurried out of town following their Thanksgiving weekend show at the Vogue, will be back in Indiana for New Year's Eve, with a gig at the Bluebird in Bloomington. Tickets are $15, and the Rev. says the Hampton Inn on N. Walnut is offering Big Damn Room discounts if you tell them you are going to the show.

The Storyteller is the title of a new double-disc live album from Indy favorite Todd Snider. Snider calls the set a "live album like you've never heard before. Part Dylan and Kristofferson, part Mitch Hedberg and Bill Hicks". The Storyteller comes out Feb 1, 2011 on Snider's Aimless Records.

R.E.M. has been releasing Beatles-like, fan club-only Christmas singles since 1988. This year, they recorded Darlene Love's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)," the legendary track from Phil Spector's 1963 Christmas album. Bassist Mike Mills sings the lead vocal (no Michael Stipe for this one), and original drummer Bill Berry returns for the outing. Here is a link to listen to the version from the boys out of Athens, GA.
