I like reading your column and when you mentioned Harrison Ullmann (Hammer, “14 Years of Hammer,” June 27-July 4), it brought back memories when I was a journalism student in 1999 (finishing a master’s degree in public relations) at Ball State.
I met with Mr. Ullmann for a classroom assignment I was doing about NUVO. The assignment was to compare how many column inches of writing in a publication and its ratio to advertisements.
He was in that little cubicle in Broad Ripple that you talked about and we met for a half-hour and I found him fascinating and wonderful as a human being. I think you are lucky to have worked with him all of those years. It’s great to have someone like that in your life and the memory of them helps to keep them alive in a way.
(I don’t remember much about the column inches to ads ratio, but I got an “A” on the assignment.)
Keep up the good work.
