Till the Sun Turns Black
Troubadour Ray Lamontagne returns with his second album, Till the Sun Turns Black. Lamontagne had the near impossible task of following up his critically acclaimed debut Trouble, which captivated many with his soulful, rootsy voice, Van Morrison-esque music and introspective lyrics, yet Lamontagne managed to improve on his second effort.
Till the Sun Turns Black is an extremely laidback trip with the exception of the obvious first single, “Three More Days.” Then the album takes a more funky approach. Produced by Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams, the Jayhawks, Rufus Wainwright), this collection is full of singer-songwriter gems. If you are looking for the perfect album for a cool fall night or a Sunday morning, look no further. Lamontagne has delivered an album that will be one of the highlights of 2006.
