Quick movie review: "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus"

This enchanting tale is Terry Gilliam's (Brazil, 12 Monkeys) best film yet. He's blended fantastical elements in modern settings before. Only in Imaginarium, the characters don't feel otherworldly, but achingly real. This is a result of the personal touch Gilliam brings to the film. This story of a drifter helping a magical theatre troupe is Gilliam's commentary on Hollywood values - and a cathartic love letter to those, like his star Heath Ledger, that died too young.
