Quick movie review: "Shorts"

Writer-director Robert Rodriguez (Desperado, Spy Kids) tells the story of a special wishing rock and the chaos that ensues when a small town full of wacky individuals get a hold of it. Rodriguez is a diverse filmmaker able to jump from genre to genre, as his previous film was the gloriously violent (and quite good) Planet Terror while Shorts' violence is mainly slapstick humor. Also, he presents the tale episodically and out of order, reminiscent of some of his buddy Quentin Tarantino's work. A unique and fun family film. 89 minutes.
