Printmakers in the Cafes of Paris

When: Mondays-Sundays. Continues through Aug. 22 2012
Price: Free.
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec is famous for his prints and paintings depicting Paris's nightlife in the late 19th century, but he also interacted with and inspired artists from the Pont-Aven School.

The prints in Printmakers in the Cafes of Paris showcase the affinity the artists in the Pont-Aven School felt for the entertainments of modern urban life, a departure from other work from the school, which concentrated on the the rural landscape of Brittany. Instead of portraying the traditions of the Breton people, these prints capture the cafes and dance halls in Paris from an very exciting period in its history.
