Primary Colours Names Vandivier Executive Director
Local arts organization creates first paid staff position
February 4, 2009
INDIANAPOLIS - Primary Colours has named longtime board member Hugh Vandivier as
the inaugural executive director of the organization. It's the first paid staff
position for the unique arts nonprofit, formed in 1998. Since joining Primary
Colours in 2005, Vandivier has served a primary role in writing grants and
developing communications strategies for the organization.
"Hugh's intimate knowledge of Primary Colours and devotion to the organization
made him the obvious choice," said Primary Colours president Dane Sauer.
"Through this newly formed position, we hope to increase our funding for the
many events, exhibitions, and programs that we provide and improve the
efficiency by which we operate."
Vandivier brings extensive communications experience and fundraising success to
his new role. Over the past decade, he has worked for Creative Street Media,
Telematrix Digital Media, and Pearson Education. In 2005, he headed a steering
committee to coordinate fundraising, architectural planning, and communications
for a new $4.2 million Phi Delta Theta fraternity house at Wabash College.
"I am grateful to Primary Colours for granting me this special opportunity to
lead this group," said Vandivier. "There is no more crucial time to be involved
in the arts, and I welcome the challenge it brings."
