If you haven’t yet seen the Amy Cutler show at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, here’s your chance to make up for lost time. Cutler’s paintings illustrate uncanny scenes of women, animals and hybrid beings engaged in magical, dreamlike activities. Her works have been described as “snippets of Laura Ingalls Wilder, Hieronymous Bosch and Masterpiece Theatre.” Something, in other words, to captivate just about everybody, including local poets Jim Walker and Jennifer Drake, who have created original poems inspired by Cutler’s works. Walker and Drake will present their poems in the McCormack Forefront Galleries at the IMA on May 4 at 7 p.m. This program is free. The Cutler exhibition is on view through June 4.
