Phyllis Diller: painter

Todd Warweg, owner of Meridian, a store specializing in art, lighting, furniture and accessories from the 1930s-1960s, recently visited Phyllis Diller at her home in Brentwood, Calif. As Warweg tells it: “She was dirt poor, raising five children alone, until she tried doing stand-up at age 40 … As well as being a comedian and concert pianist, she paints, too. She mentioned that she loves our War Memorial Building, which I thought was pretty cool.”

Now the trail-blazing comic is 90.

Warweg acquired 15 of her paintings, which he has on display (and for sale) in his store at 2201 N. Meridian St. Meridian, the store, is open 12-4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Call 317-923-2201 for information.
