The Oscars are coming! If you are looking to go out and schmooze locally while watching the stars, check out these parties around town.
• Talbott Street, 2145 N. Talbott St., will present the “All that Glitters Gala!” celebrating the Academy Awards and benefiting the Damien Center of Indiana. The festivities will begin with red carpet arrivals at 7:30 p.m. Guest will be greeted by Talbott’s Street’s own version of “Joan Rivers” welcoming them and commenting on their choice of fashions (or lack there of). There will be food, raffles and viewing of the awards. Your raffle ticket is tied to a nominee. If your nominee wins, you are entered for a prize. Attire is gaudy formal, or dress as your favorite celebrity (dead or alive). Prizes will be awarded to the Best Dressed Man and Woman. Feb. 29; $10. www.awardsavenue.com.
• Indianapolis’ Official Oscar Night America Party will be held at the Indiana State Museum, 650 W. Washington St. Guests will experience roaming cameras, paparazzi, faux celebrities and the opportunity to be interviewed as they parade down the red carpet into the world of Hollywood. Hors d’oeuvres will be served and a silent and a live auction will be held featuring Hollywood movie memorabilia and collectables. Live local music will provide entertainment until the big moment when the red carpet is rolled up and the broadcast of the 76th Annual Academy Awards is shown live on the IMAX. Guests can attend the event dressed as their favorite movie star, past or present, or black-tie optional. Feb. 29, 6 p.m. $50.
