The annual one-night-only, cross-genre event Oranje touts itself as a progressive art and music event showcasing the best local contemporary artists and musicians. Painters, sculptors, photographers, filmmakers, metal workers, ceramicists, tattoo artists, glassblowers, poets, hair designers, woodworkers, composers, cartoonists, DJs, musicians, performance artists and chefs all participate, with portions of the proceeds donated to the local, non-profit organization World's Children United (WCU). Fun and charity — what could be better? Oranje is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, from 8 p.m.-2 a.m. at 2323 N. Illinois St.
