NUVO is thankful. We won an ARTI award from the Indianapolis Arts Council last week at the Start with Art luncheon, the annual gathering of artists, city leaders and arts organizations to celebrate the opening of the fall arts season.
We were nominated by a variety of arts organizations for our contributions to the arts and were fortunate to be selected by the Arts Council from among a long list of deserving candidates.
The presentation recognized NUVO for the quality, breadth and consistency of our writing and for the contribution our critical voice makes towards building engaged and discerning audiences. Our staff was recognized for their personal involvement and passion for the arts and for the partnerships we have developed over the last 17 years through our sponsorships of events, advertising solutions, design services and participation in many fund-raising events.
We take great pride in this award. We returned to our offices to cheers from the staff and to many heartfelt phone calls and e-mails from our friends and readers.
We know we are standing on the shoulders of the collective contributions of all those who have worked and freelanced at NUVO, but I would like to especially thank Jim Poyser, our managing editor, and David Hoppe, our associate/arts editor, for their vision and leadership, and Sarah Myer, our account executive and liaison for all arts organizations.
Thank you again to the Arts Council of Indianapolis and the nominating arts organizations for your expression of appreciation. Our step is lighter and our creative energy is flowing."
