New Year's Eve Celebration of Peace

Global Peace Initiatives will ring in the new year with a peace hike to Monument Circle Dec. 31. In a joint effort with the School of Metaphysics and the Church Within, GPI hopes to bring people together in a positive and mindful celebration.

According to Linda Proffitt, GPI executive director, the gathering offers a way for people to set a peaceful intention for the new year.

Participants will gather along the canal at White River State Park at 10:45 p.m. and walk through the Government Center to the Circle for a reading of the Universal Peace Covenant. Drumming circles from all over Central Indiana are invited to participate.

“It’s just a really healthy way to spend your New Year’s Eve,” Proffitt says. “It’s a nice walk in the city with the beat of drums around us, and a lot of people real excited about their commitment to be peacemakers.”

The event is alcohol-free and open to all ages. More information: 317-222-1556.
