By Jesse Wilson

Gov. Mike Pence selected new members for the nominating commission for the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. The members will serve a four-year terms that start immediately and runs through 2017.

"Through their work to fill vacancies on the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, the members of the Nominating Committee ensure a thorough, balanced nominating process for the benefit of Hoosier utilities customers," said Pence. "I am grateful to the individuals who have agreed to serve on the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission Nominating Committee and look forward to working with them in the future to appoint principled and knowledgeable leaders to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission."

Pence's selections are:

-Gwendolyn Horth will be the chair. Now retired, she most recently served three terms as Washington Township trustee in Marion County where she helped to consolidate fire services with the Indianapolis Fire Department in 2006.

-Eric Scroggins is vice president, general counsel and secretary of Allison Transmission. Scroggins previously served in a variety of roles within the Indiana State Personnel Department.

-John Blevins is an attorney and former teacher in Anderson. Blevins previously served three terms in the Indiana House of Representatives and worked as a liaison to Gov. Robert Orr.

The IURC nomination committee will assess the vacancies on the IURC and help to select officials to fill those positions. They will offer up three candidates and then the governor will appoint one from those three to the IURC.

The nominating committee is made up of seven members, three of which are appointed by the governor, one that is selected by the speaker of the House of Representatives, one by the pro tempore of the Senate, one by the minority leader of the Senate, and one from the minority leader of the House.
