MySpace, Verizon offer video contest

Ellen Kizik How bad do you want a record deal

Ellen Kizik How bad do you want a record deal? MySpace is teaming up with Verizon Wireless to give one lucky band the opportunity to make history. The proposition: to be the first unsigned band ever to launch their career on a wireless phone. The winner of Verizon Wireless's "Calling All Bands" contest will get their first single premiered on V CAST Music. Included in the package is the opportunity to get a music video produced that will debut on V CAST, plus a ring tone and ring back tone available for purchase on Verizon Wireless. How do you enter? If you're an unsigned band with a MySpace profile, find "Calling All Bands" and submit an original song between now and March 1. From March 13-22, the pool will be narrowed down to 15 semi-finalists chosen by MySpace Music Editors. During that time, a link will be provided on the contest page so that the people can vote for their favorite band. On March 24, the pool will be cut down to the final 5 finalists and the last round of voting will take place. The winner will be announced online on March 29. With a network of 51.3 million customers, Verizon Wireless can get any band the recognition they deserve. Even the bands that get selected as semi-finalists will get some great exposure.
