In conjunction with the Gen Con gaming convention going on Aug. 10-13 (see this week’s Cover Story), the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra will present a concert, Video Games Live. It is an innovative and interactive concert experience featuring the best music and exclusive video segments that will be projected onto a large screen above the musicians from the most popular video games of all time. The music will be accented by laser light displays, synchronized lighting and unique interactive gaming segments to create an innovative and exciting concert experience.
Games that will be represented include Mario, Zelda, Halo, Metal Gear Solid, Warcraft, Myst, Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Medal of Honor, Sonic, Tron, Tomb Raider, Advent Rising, Headhunter, Beyond Good & Evil, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and Everquest. The program also will feature a “Retro-Classic Arcade Medley” featuring more than 20 games from Pong to Donkey Kong.
Gen Con Indy and Video Games Live also will host a “Pre-Concert Festival” beginning at 7 p.m. in the Hilbert Circle Theatre lobby that will include a costume contest, playable game demonstration models and a meet-and-greet with game designers and composers.
