With the joint vision and efforts of the Southeast Neighborhood Development (SEND) and artist/entrepreneur Philip Campbell, the former G.C. Murphy department store was converted into a gathering place for all things visual art. The building now has new owners, but remains home to numerous galleries and artist studios. The artists in the Murphy are among the most established in the city. The building hosts several open studio nights a year in addition to independent gallery openings.
