Motorcycles on ice

The 31st Annual World Championship Ice Motorcycle Racing Series will be at Conseco Fieldhouse Dec. 29, 7:30 p.m. Fans will get to see 20 races.

Established in 1977, the historically longest running arena racing series features professional Manufacturers World Cup Motorcycles and Unlimited Outlaw Quads. The two professional divisions attract many of the world’s top riders and are unique within motorsports.

Manufacturers World Cup Bikes are state-of-the-art, racing motorcycles that are made by almost all of the world’s major sport bike manufacturers. The machines are very lightweight with aluminum frames and incorporate extremely powerful engines.

The Unlimited Outlaw Pro Quad division features highly modified four-wheel ATVs built and prepared specifically for oval track ice racing. The Quads are noteworthy for their lack of rules. Any engine and or chassis configuration is allowed as long as the machine is rear-wheel driven and no wider than 50 inches to any point. This wide-open format creates wild machines taking to the ice.

Plus, Ice/International Championship Events offers racing in select amateur classes. Included in these classes are Nitro X-Karts, Big Does mini pit bikes and Ice Breaker Amateur Quads.

Tickets are available at Conseco Fieldhouse, all Ticketmaster locations (317-239-5151) or at Tickets are $22-$32.
