Michael Sheppard Plays
Michael Sheppard is one of the two 2003 American Pianists Association Classical Fellows. Of the three APA Fellow CDs (recently) reviewed, Sheppard’s is the most engaging program, with works by Earl Wild, Samuel Barber, Richard Rodgers, William Bolcom, George Crumb and George Corigliano. It’s a survey of the many diverse styles that mark the 20th century as different from all preceding ones. Sheppard already is a consummate pianist, with this disk displaying his talents to great favor.
