“Crossroads of Evolution”
American Legion Post 64
Saturday, July 29
It has been a long time since a truly local metal fest has taken place on a grand scale. The first annual “Crossroads of Evolution” will rock out this Saturday, July 29 at the American Legion Post 64. Not only is this festival dedicated solely to metal, but it is outdoors, as all summer festivals should be. Thirteen bands will jumpstart your weekend.
If the assortment of artists does not impress, then perhaps the two masterminds behind the festival will: the female duo made up of Erin Mullen, from IndyMetal.com, and Alex Pendygraft, a senior at Butler University. The team-up could not have worked out better, with Mullen in charge of booking and Pendygraft promotions.
“We hope this event can turn into an annual thing. This is the first time someone has tried to organize a metal festival in the Midwest. ‘Crossroads of Evolution’ will satisfy everyone’s tastes,” Mullen said.
The festival will feature an outdoor space that can hold upwards of 800 people and an indoor beer garden for 400. The 13 bands are scheduled to play between noon and 11 p.m.
In addition to Toxic Reasons, other bands scheduled to make an appearance include Indy’s own Year of Desolation (Prosthetic Records), Daath (Roadrunner Records), Forever in Terror (MetalBlade Records), MercyKill, Epicurean, Judgement, Amongst The Swarm, Opiate, Straight Line Stitch, Woe Of Tyrants, Base Defiler and Ishia.
American Legion Post 64 is located on 601 S. Holt Road in Indianapolis. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 day of show. The show starts at noon but come early to ensure good parking and a spot next to the stage. Advance tickets, set times and directions are available online at www.myspace.com/crossroadsofevolution.
