A BikePort opening this Thursday, Sept. 27 at the National Institute of Fitness and Sport in White River State Park will make it easier to store your bike downtown. A bike rack at the facility for 22 bicycles will be free, 12 bike storage lockers (which do away with traditional bike locks) can be rented with a $5.95 annual membership plus hourly charges, and showers will also be available with the membership. NIFS says the port will be useful for both commuters and day-trippers: IndyGo’s Red and Blue lines pick up nearby, and White River State Park attractions are a few steps away.
The NIFS BikePort is the third of its kind to open downtown this year. Two BikePorts opened in mid-May during National Bike-to-Work Day, one at the Indiana Government Center and the other at a parking garage at 31 S. Michigan St.
Membership information, including a Web-based system that updates locker availability at all three locations, is available at www.inbikeport.org. More about NIFS at www.nifs.org."""
