Let the Right One In

Quite nicely-done arty little Swedish vampire flick. You'd think there was nothing left to do with the vampire genre, but the story of the burgeoning friendship between two 12-year-olds -- one of which feeds on blood -- manages to be invigorating, involving, creepy and moving and occasionally even funny. The subtitled movie moves at a deliberate pace, but the low-key, quiet presentation helps establish a realistic tone that makes the supernatural elements all the more shocking. If you get a little antsy during the first act, hang in there, your patience will be rewarded. 114 minutes. DVD INFO: Includes deleted scenes and a featurette.
