Kyle Ragsdale: Danke Schoen

Harrison Gallery
Kyle Ragsdale’s new show entitled Danke Schoen literally means “thank you very much” in German. This is a fitting title for the new works in this show by one of the city’s favorite artists. Ragsdale’s amorphous women are again the subjects of his work. Soft, sensual, delicate — and almost always faceless — Ragsdale’s women are timeless and elegant and showered with a painterly touch. “Moonlight Green” features a shadowy lady. Her dress is in full bloom and pours down the canvas in soft tendrils, contrasting with the thick speckles of paint that adorn the dress and dance in the sky. “Showering Thankfulness” features two women radiating in pink. Again, the full skirts are soft and flowing, but heavy painted dots abound — this time in gold and yellow, the speckles literally rain from the sky. “Lemon Chiffon” is a bright twist on Ragsdale’s traditionally muted and ethereal palette. Thick yellows and greens jut across the canvas as the women bask in the bold light. Through Dec. 1; 317-514-6787. —AM
