Be a part of 38 years of cultural celebration. The Indianapolis Kwanzaa Committee is holding the annual Kwanzaa Umoja Celebration at Crispus Attucks Middle School, 1140 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St., Sunday, Dec. 26, the first day of Kwanzaa, from 1-8 p.m. Kwanzaa is an African-American holiday celebrated from Dec. 26-Jan 1. Each day of Kwanzaa celebrates one of the Seven Principles. Umoja is the first principle, which means Unity.

The celebration will include cultural vendors; a special tribute to drummers; and health and educational discussions featuring special guest Dr. Inskip Allsop, singer and certified naturopath and nutritional consultant. Also, exciting community cultural performances and a special Queen Mother procession and Candle Lighting Ceremony beginning at 5 p.m. Come early to shop, experience mouth-watering cuisine and be a part of the magnificent cultural procession.
