Jeff Dunham has reinvented the art of ventriloquism and made it cool. He and his suitcase of co-stars -- including Walter, Achmed the Dead Terrorist, Jose the jalapeno on a stick and the all-time favorite Peanut, among others -- will be at Conseco Fieldhouse Feb. 26, 7:30 p.m. as part of the Spark of Insanity Tour.
Dunham has acquired legions of fans through his sold-out arena and comedy shows, YouTube videos, countless television guest spots (including numerous Tonight Show
appearances with both Leno and Carson -- Dunham has appeared on the Tonight Show
more than any ventriloquist in history) and with top-rated specials on Comedy Central, which are available on DVD. Peanut dolls are waved about with abandon at live shows. As each character emerges from the case, he is greeted with his own catch phrase -- from "That's good, that's good, that gooooood!" to "I keel you!"
Dunham's act is more than just voice throwing. Each dummy comes to life -- you forget these guys are puppets. Dunham even argues with them. But none of them are shy about making fun of themselves, and their self-awareness ("We can't talk at the same time!" "My ass says made in China.") only makes Dunham's talent even more impressive.
Dunham was voted "Funniest Male Stand-Up Comic" at the American Comedy Awards and was voted No. 1 in Comedy Central's "Stand-Up Showdown" by fans across America. He is the only person ever to win the "Ventriloquist of the Year" award twice.
Tickets are still available through ticketmaster.com for $43.50. Conseco Fieldhouse is located at 125 S. Pennsylvania St. For more Jeff Dunham, go to http://jeffdunham.com/.
