Jazz Notes 5/30/07 

• Sullivan’s Steakhouse will feature Steve Corn and Joe Deal Friday, June 1 from 5-11 p.m.; Saturday, June 2, Corn & Deal play 5-7 p.m. and then Claude Sifferlen is on piano with Deal’s bass from 7-11 p.m.; Sunday, June 3, Convergence plays 5-9 p.m.

• Shirley Judkins & Friends will play Tuesday, June 5 at Easley Winery’s “Groovin’ in the Garden” from 5-7 p.m. No cover charge.

• Legendary modern jazz drummer Red Holt brings his swinging drum technique to the Jazz Kitchen Sunday, June 3 for shows at 6 and 9 p.m. Chicago-based Holt was an original member of the famous Ramsey Lewis of the ’60s. He teamed up with Eldee Young to form Holt/Young Unlimited and recorded hits like  “Soulful Strut,” which topped the jazz charts. The show will also feature WICR jazz DJ Ralph Adams, who will be honored for his 30 years of broadcasting jazz.

• Local jazz artists with new CDs scheduled for release this summer include ORI, Rob Dixon, Cynthia Layne and the Indy Jazz Men.
