The First James Dean Amateur Film Festival will take place at The Hotel Marion in downtown Marion, Ind., July 25. Sponsored by The James Dean Gallery in Fairmount, the festival will feature six short films inspired by the Indiana screen icon. Several of the filmmakers, including Mary Ann Michna, will be on hand to meet and greet. There will also be a rare screening of home movies shot by Dean in New York and Texas in 1954. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and admission is $15, which includes a buffet dinner. Reservations are recommended but not necessary; call 765-948-3326.
