“Our latest installement of our Home Brewer Battle was hot—in more ways than one. On one of the hottest days of the summer so far, 12 talented homebrewers and 75 craft beer-loving tasters joined Indiana City in their brewing space to participate in the beer vs. beer tournament.

“By popular vote, only one brewer reigned supreme,” reported Indiana City founder Ray Kamstra.

He added, “Nick Syberg walked away with a $50 gift card to Great Fermentations and the chance to brew his winning ale on our 15 bbl system, receive custom label art from Aaron Scamihorn and see his beer on tap at the brewery and around town. Thanks to Great Fermentations and [Indy] Brew Bracket for their sponsorship.”

New Beers Now:

Brugge Pooka, brewed with fresh boysenberry, is an awaited sour and refreshing Summer seasonal. It’s on tap at Brugge and Outliers for sure; ask if it is on if you are elsewhere.

  • Broad Ripple Brewpub
Broad Ripple Brewpub just brought on a light, crisp Kolsch with bold Noble hops for a refreshing Summer beer on its own for sipping or nicely partnering the current lineup food menu specials. Hard Target Belgian-style IPA offers upfront spice notes—a gift from the Belgian yeast. The unexpected addition of pineapple provides a welcome taste treat—a cocktail-in-one?

Rock Bottom Downtown and College Park each have their particular take on a lovely Honey Ale. It’s worth the travel time to try them both.

NUVO’s beer sleuth Casey stopped at Metazoa to taste their newly on tap Imperial IPA; offering a thumbs up.
