The Wedding Belles, a musical about tying the knot, follows bride-to-be Etta on her wedding adventure, starting with Etta's announcement that she's cancelling her wedding--moments before scheduled to walk down the aisle. Her bridesmaids, Simone and Alesha, come to the rescue, recounting their own relationship stories to help bring Etta to her senses and get her down the aisle to Richard, the man of her dreams.

To marry or not? That’s the question facing all three of the couples in writer/director Nicole Kearney’s good-natured musical about the various routes lovers take to the altar. On the plus side, Kearney has assembled a likeable cast of truly first-rate singers, whose soulful voices fill the hall and never miss a beat. If only the same could be said for this production’s stagecraft. Spoken lines are often barely audible and transitions on the Fringe Theatre’s admittedly difficult stage lack timing and finesse. - David Hoppe
