If the gigantic picture of clowns stuffing pizza in their faces on our cover — those are No Exit members and Pizzology slices, by the way — didn't clue you into a very pizza-centric
issue of NUVO this week, allow us to lay it out more formally.
This week, our brilliant marketing and sales teams have coordinated Indy Pizza Week, which is a week-long celebration of all things pizza all over Indy. You can get the specific details at indypizzaweek.com
, but the crux is this: All kinds of excellent Hoosier eateries are offering $8 pizzas all week long, and we encourage you to eat as many of them as possible for two reasons. Reason 1) Pizza is delicious. Reason 2) A portion of proceeds from Indy Pizza Week benefits Second Helpings, which helps feed hungry people in Indy.
Over in NUVO Editorial Land, Food Editor Cavan McGinsie wrote up a bajillion — that's the actual count, yes — different styles of pizza available in the Circle Circle. Caught up in the New York
versus Chicago debate? What about Neapolitan? Midwest? Gourmet? Tavern? Grilled? St Louis?
There's so many different kinds of pizza to put in your mouth this week.
RELATED: So. Much. Pizza.
We can anticipate your next question: What's up with the clowns, NUVO? Not only is it Indy Pizza Week until Sunday, August 21. Friday kicks off this year's IndyFringe festival, which features all manner of short-form plays up and down Mass Ave. Arts Editor Emily Taylor has profiled a passel of Fringe plays opening this weekend here. Those clowns you see up top are No Exit
performers, who you'll see pop up all over the fest.
Pizza. Plays. Parties. This week is a good one in Indy.
