For the second year in a row, local favorite the German-American Club Oktoberfest comes to the Indiana State Fairgrounds. For two weekends, visitors can sample a wide variety of traditional German foods, as well as a number of authentic German beers while listening to traditional music. The festival, which had previously been based in Indianapolis' German Town on the Southside for 33 years, is Indy's take on the famous German celebration. Last year, the festival was moved to the State Fairgrounds in order to attract a larger group of visitors from the Northside of the city. To bring greater numbers of people to the event, a special Fair Train has been set up to ferry people between Fishers and the fairgrounds. Oktoberfest runs Sept. 4-6 and 11-12, Fridays from 4-11 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. The fairgrounds are located at 1202 E. 38th St. Info: 317-888-6940, www.indianapolisgak.com/ofest.html.
