Mikado Open Again after October Fire
Mikado Restaurant and Sushi Bar (148 S. Illinois St., 972-4180), one of the area's premier Japanese restaurants, has re-opened in downtown Indianapolis. The restaurant underwent an extensive remodeling after a fire last autumn caused the restaurant to close. Owner and chef Juping Chi says that new, vibrant red walls inside and colorful tile mosaics on the floor are all signs of how the restaurant has matured and grown over the years. With a streamlined menu of even higher quality ingredients, including all wild Atlantic seafood caught on day boats and shipped within 24 hours, Mikado will soon serve a variety of fresh and innovative antipasti and appetizer selections from tableside carts. Mikado was the first of four restaurants, including Five Spice Café, Mikado Café, and Shanghai Lil, that Chi and her sister Yu-Mei Lee and sister-in-law Vivian Chi have opened around the city.
