Indy's Iron Chefs to reconvene
Last April, Dave Foegley from St. Elmo Steakhouse, Steve Oakley from Oakley's Bistro, Mike Hibbeln from Rick's Café Boatyard and Karl Benko consultant chef for Peterson's, squared off at Indy's Iron Chef competition. Now joined by Jean Paison, Founder of Second Helpings and certified working pastry chef, the "Fab Five" will contribute their time and talents to raise funds for Second Helpings, Inc. by preparing a meal for 100 guests. Second Helpings, Inc. educates adults for careers in the culinary field while providing healthy, nutritious meals to other non-profit organizations serving the Indianapolis area. Since its inception in April 1998, Second Helpings has rescued over 3 million pounds of prepared and perishable food, delivered over 1 million nutritious meals, and trained 124 adults for new careers in the culinary field. The Fab Five Chefs Dinner will be held at the Woodland Country Club on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003. You are invited to attend a series of wine classes in the cafe at Tarkington's, starting on Sept. 29. Each class will be structured around particular themes with a tasting of eight wines led by Tarkington's Wine Sommelier Daniel Golando and proprietor Ed Chambers. Wines will be matched with appropriate food samples developed by Pastry Chef Charles Roxland and Assistant Chef de Cuisine Alfonso Lara to highlight the importance of matching wine and food. Classes will be limited to twenty attendees. Corner Wine Bar tastings
The Corner Wine Bar has announced its s new series of beer and wine tastings, beginning on Sept. 20. Prices for all events will be $25 unless otherwise noted. Hors d'oeuvres will be offered along with special carryout pricing. Tastings include: "Wine on the patio" Saturday, September 20th 1-3 p.m., outside. Enjoy the end of the season with casual red & white wines.
